02 May 2007 [12:43] - TODAY.AZ
"I do not pursue a goal to participate in the 2008 presidential elections. It depends both on the current situation in the country and other factors," Chairman of Azerbaijan Social-Democratic Party Ayaz Mutallibov exclusively told.

Commenting on the socio-political situation in Azerbaijan he said the activity of opposition is ineffective in the current state of affairs, APA reports.

He said "If anything happens the opposition revives. It is very important moment. The opposition is not interested how long this will continue. I am sure that only sound rivalry within the opposition will save us from future difficulties and let Azerbaijan to gain the reputation of democratic country".

Ayaz Mutallibov said he does not have any relationships with the newly-established Yeni Zaman party (New time Party).

"I read on the newly-established Yeni Zaman Party from press and I have played no role in the establishing of the party."

Ayaz Mutallibov said he never retried from returning to Azerbaijan and Ilham Aliyev's opinion is very important for him on this issue.

"My return to Azerbaijan depends on President. It should be taken into consideration that I left the Country following the armed seize of power by the Popular Front on May 15, 1992, but not on my own will. It is said by Ilham Aliyev many times. International community does also know it. But I want to stress that it is not linked with the power that established in 1993. So it would be logical to solve the question."

Ayaz Mutallibov said he was not able to receive Azerbaijani passport. He said he was sure that the problem would soon find its solution.
