Meeting held in Romania-Azerbaijan Friendship Society

The delegation of the State Committee for Azerbaijanis Living Abroad led by Sureddin Humbatov is visiting Bucharest.

The delegation met with representatives of Azerbaijani community and lobby organizations. Representatives of Romania-Azerbaijan Friendship Society and Romania-Azerbaijan Youth and Friendship Association participated at the meeting. The members of the state committee gave information about Azerbaijan, its history, historical roots of Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict, ongoing processes in the region.

Secretary General of Romania-Azerbaijan Friendship Society, academician Ioan Pop de Popa reported about their activities in Romania. He said that a number of works by Azerbaijani authors were translated into Romanian and Romanian works into Azerbaijani, cultural relations expanded and compared the Nagorno Karabakh conflict and separation of Azerbaijani lands and Bessarabia and Transdnestria problems.

One of the leaders of Romania-Azerbaijan Friendship Society writer Dumitru Balan shared his impressions of joint forum of Azerbaijan-Turkey Diaspora organizations and gave information about the reconstruction of Heydar Aliyev Park in Bucharest.

The participants appealed on behalf of Diaspora organizations in Romania condemning Armenian genocide claims, APA Eastern Europe bureau reports.
