PACE Committee on Migration, Refugees and Population listened to the report on the activity of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) by Gultakin Hajiyeva.

"The Committee members highly appreciated the report. The debates on report were attended by IOM's representatives and its Paris Office. They also exchanged with their views. The report aimed at the expanding relations between the IOM and the Council of Europe. My report throw light upon migration trends, legal and illegal migration, the control of migration process, migration and tolerance, migration and human rights. That the report was made by the new democracy as Azerbaijan and the description of country's problems on this field in the document was highly appreciated. Though this document is not involved with Azerbaijan directly but it covers the activity of the IOM in Azerbaijan, especially in Nakchivan. The activity of the Organization in Nakchivan which blockaded by Armenia is appreciated positively," Hajiyeva told the APA.

Hajiyeva said the report was approved unanimously by PACE Committee on Migration, Refugees and Population. She said the draft resolution on the report will be debated by the Committee in June.

IOM secretary-general McKinley is expected to participate in the debate of Gultakin Hajiyeva's report in PACE's autumn session scheduled for October.
