18 April 2007 [21:57] - TODAY.AZ
"The Venice Commission does not insist on any amendment to the Election Code. They agree with every amendment proposal. The opposite side says the only thing they want is satisfaction of voters of the results of the elections. We look for the ways of it."

According to the head of the parliament administration Safa Mirzoyev the Working Group on the issue may have the next meeting in September.

He also said it is impossible to say that the process on the document will finish this year. "It is impossible to say when the process will end."

Mirzoyev said the two sides agreed on not to publicize the details of the work.

The chairman of the Central Election Commission Mazahir Panahov also told journalists the work on the Election code will express the will of voter from point of view of democratic principles.

"Some offers were made on the improvement of Election Code. These offers include legal procedure of responding to applications, inking procedure. Some of these will be put down in the Election Code. Azerbaijani Election Code is a document based on principles accepted by world. I say again it can cover only improvement," the CEC chairman said.

Mazahir Panahov also said they applied to international organizations on the illegal elections to be held by Armenia in occupied Karabakh province of Azerbaijan.
