Detained activist deported to Iran

Hadi Seyid Javad Musevi, one of the activists of Southern Azerbaijan National Awakening Movement, detained and kept in Interior Ministry Migration Service detention place for migrants was extradited to Iran by Baku-Tehran flight at 04.00 on April 12, the migrant's representative Alovsat Aliyev said.

He told the APA that Musevi's extradition will damage Azerbaijan's image. "Hadi Musevi was not allowed signing the appeal. His documents are ready to appeal to European Court of Human Rights. It should be taken into account that Musevi will be punished in Iran for his activities against the state," he said.

Interior Ministry Migration Service told the APA that Musevi was deported early this morning but they did not say what country he has been deported to.

Musevi was born in 1981 in the city of Keleyber of Iran and arrested for participation in the rally to Bazz Fortress in July, 2004 and underwent tortures. Therefore he left Iran for Baku in January, 2006. He appealed to the State Committee on work with Refugees and IDPs to get the status of refugee but his appeal was rejected. Hadi Musevi filed an appeal against the decision, but the claim was dismissed. Hedi Musevi was detained by the officers of Interior Ministry Migration Service on April 7.
