Azerbaijan's Navy to buy motor-launches and mine-sweepers

Azerbaijan is planning to take steps for modernization of infrastructure of Military Naval Forces this year.

Motor-launches and mine-sweepers are planned to be bought and introduced to the disposal of Azerbaijan Naval Forces this year with modernizing old boats, the military sources told APA. These works are supported by NATO in accordance with Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) and US.

According to military sources, Azerbaijani and Russian Naval Forces are planning to launch joint friendship exercises in Caspian Sea in the forthcoming months.

Defense Ministry press service's head, Colonel Ramiz Malikov said the Military Naval Forces infrastructure is renewed each year.

Ramiz Malikov made no comments on the purchase of new motor-launches and mine-sweepers.

He also said Azerbaijan conducts regularly friendship exercises with Russia.
