Azerbaijan, Poland Presidents sign joint declaration

The negotiations between Azerbaijani and Polish delegations were followed by signing a joint declaration.

Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev said that they discussed that they discussed all aspects of bilateral cooperation as well as security issues. The President said Poland is one of the first countries to recognize Azerbaijan's independence.

"Our relations are developing rapidly. Poland supports Azerbaijan's integration into EuroAtlantic structures after becoming the member of NATO and European Union and recognizes Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. It is very important for us," he said.

Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan is ready to cooperate with Poland in all spheres, including energy sphere.

"I consider that Polish President's visit is a great success. The essence of the signing documents proves it," he said.

Polish president Lech Kaczynski said he is satisfied with the results of his visit and invited Azerbaijani president to Warsaw. Following this, the presidents gave briefing. Azerbaijani president said that Azerbaijan is an ancient oil producing country.

According to the head of the state, this year 42-43m tonnes oil will be produced, it is planned to produce 60m tonnes and more during further years.

"Full increase is expected in the sphere of produce of gas. Up to now we have supplied only ourselves with gas, but after today we will be able to deliver our gas to European market. After commissioning Shah Deniz field Azerbaijani gas will be delivered to European market through Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline. Access to the market of the EU serves to our interests," he said.

Mr. Kaczynski noted that during Aliyev's visit to Poland the relations in all spheres, as well as development of cultural relations will be discussed.

In response to it, Azerbaijani president stressed that the relations between the two countries have historical background.

"Polish house was opened in Baku in 1909. Polish architectures had great role in Baku's architecture. Most of Azerbaijani Catholics are from Poland," he said. APA
