Iran apologizes to Azerbaijan for airspace violation

Iran apologized to Azerbaijani side for violation of airspace with helicopters, Deputy FM Khalaf Khalafov told the journalists.

Deputy Minister said that he delivered discontent of Azerbaijani side to relevant bodies during his visit to Iran.

"We have discussed this issue during my meeting with my Iranian counterpart. They said it happened by accident and apologized to Azerbaijani side for it. We consider that Iran's helicopters did not violate air space of Azerbaijan on purpose," Khalaf Khalafov said.

Iranian helicopters violated Azerbaijan's airspace on February 22 in Astara territory, APA reports.
