Khalaf Khalafov: "Principal issues should be solved before Caspian states' summit"

"Principal issues should be solved before the Caspian states' summit," Deputy Foreign Minister Khalaf Khalafov told journalists.

He said that it is possible to speak of the summit of the Caspian states' Foreign Ministers only after the principal issues aresolved.

Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said the Caspian states' summit will be held in Tehran in the first term of the next year, APA reports.

The Minister said he has already sent an invitation on the summit to Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev and the president has accepted it.

Iranian official representative on Caspian Mehdi Seferi said that Iran considers expedient holding summit with participation of littoral states.

"Even if the Convention on Caspian’s status is not ready, littoral states have much to discuss on regional cooperation and security issues," he said.
