RWB issues statement concerning ANS shutdown

Reporters Without Borders has today issued a statement concerning media condition in Azerbaijan.

The statement reads that closure of ANS TV and ANS CM Radio, eviction of Azadliq newspaper and Turan News agency from their premises, curbing free media is a sign of deterioration of the media situation.

A spokeswoman for Reporters Without Borders, Elsa Vidal said that shw was deeply concerned over the happenings and she intends to appeal to President Ilham Aliyev and the Government of Azerbaijan. APA
