Agriculture Minister meets US ambassador

Minister expressed his satisfaction with the strategic cooperation in the political, economic, military and social fields, saying this cooperation marked a new stage of development after President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Washington in April this year.

Abbasov said US is one of the leading investors in Azerbaijan, thus, promoting economic reforms in Azerbaijan. He noted that United States Agency for International Development implements a variety of programs concerning humanitarian aid, poverty reduction, private agrarian sector.

Abbasov expressed satisfaction to the US Defense, State, Agriculture Departments and Trade and Development Agency for assistance in constructing and equipping epidemiology stations, veterinary diagnostics labs as well as fighting avian influenza.

Minister also told of the agriculture, agrarian reforms, state program on socio-economic development of regions.

Anne Derse stressed that President iLham Aliyev's visit to Washington had given a new impetus to the US-Azerbaijan relations. She promised she would spare no efforts to attract American businessmen to the agrarian sector of Azerbaijan, strengthen ties with the Agriculture Ministry of Azerbaijan and develop cooperation in the veterinary medicine.
