Saying US-Azerbaijan relations develop in all fields, A Aliyev stressed President Ilham Aliyev's visit to Washington in April this year has marked a new era of development and will play a key role in deepening bilateral relations.
A. Aliyev said political, economic and trade cooperation between the USA and Azerbaijan allowed achieving much success in the customs area as well. He highlighted US role in the implementation of the large-scale projects in Azerbaijan.
A. Aliyev updated Ambassador on the role of the customs bodies in ensuring country's economic security and actions to prepare a new Customs Code of Azerbaijan. Chairman expressed his satisfaction with the cooperation between customs bodies of both countries and hoped that Azerbaijan Government and US Administration would sign an agreement on mutual aid and cooperation in customs area.
A. Aliyev expressed confidence that concrete action will be taken in the future to raise trade turnover between the two countries.
Chairman thanked the US Administration for assisting in personnel training and experience exchange. He recalled the visit of the State Customs Committee's officials to the USA where they became familiar with the activities of the US customs services. He described this visit as a successful step towards the expansion of ties between customs bodies of both countries.
He asked Anne Derse to help Azerbaijani customs officials undertake training at the US Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC).
Mrs. Anne Derse said she is honored to continue her diplomatic activity in Azerbaijan and described the successful development of Azerbaijan as a good factor.
Anne Derse said US Administration highly rates cooperation with Azerbaijan, and expressed satisfaction with the present level of economic and political relations.
Ambassador stressed President Ilham Aliyev's meetings during his visit to Washington gave a new impetus to the bilateral relations. She highly appreciated the cooperation between the Azerbaijan Customs Committee and US customs bodies. She pledged to do everything in her power to organize trainings for Azerbaijani customs officials at the FLETC.
