Mr. Mammadyarov congratulated Mrs. Rashed Al Khalifa on new appointment.
On the issue of protracted conflicts in the GUAM area and their implications for international peace, security and development, which is included in the agenda of the 61st session of UN General Assembly, the Azeri Minister noted that each UN member country has a right to submit for discussion the questions it is concerned about.
The same day, Elmar Mammadyarov signed "Convention on the Safety of United Nations and Associated Personnel: Optional Protocol" in the United Nations' headquarters.
Nicolas Michel, UN Under-Secretary-General for Legal Affairs and United Nations Legal Counsel, said Azerbaijan is one of the first countries to sign this protocol.
He said he believes the Protocol will be soon ratified by Azerbaijan's Parliament.
The Azeri Minister also participated in the 10th joint ministerial meeting of the Economic Cooperation Organization and Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
