Fate of 122 Azeri POWs cleared

In the eight months of 2006, Azerbaijani State Commission for prisoners of war, missing persons and hostages cleared the fate of 122 Azerbaijanis registered as missing as a result of Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan.

As the result of the investigation of the State Commission, their names were dropped from the list of the missing persons.

The Commission told the APA that there are 4,561 Azerbaijanis were registered as prisoners of war, missing persons and hostages. 3,664 of them are servicemen, 887 civilians. 52 of the civilians are children (18 girls), 392 old ones (178 women), 98 middle aged women and 346 are middle aged men. 783 witnesses were interrogated. 1,388 hostages, including 342 women and 1046 men have been released so far. 169 of the released are children (65 girls), 288 old ones (122 old women), 165 middle aged woman and 776 middle aged men. 451 are said to be killed or died from different causes. 86 of them were women and 365 were men.
