Nardaran not to have local elections

"Local elections will not be held in Nardaran settlement in October 6, 2006," Central Election Commission chairman Mazahir Panahov told journalists.

The CEC chairman explained this due to lack of alternative candidate to Nardaran local authorities, APA imports.

"Eleven candidacies have been nominated to eleven seats in Nardaran. According to Electoral Code, it is illegal to conduct elections if the number of candidates is the same with the seats," Mr.Panahov said.
