Iranian Ambassador: "US, Israel want ethnic tensions in Iran"

Iran's ambassador to Azerbaijan said that the United States and Israel "have an interest" in stoking tensions between Iran's majority ethnic Persian population and the large Azeri minority in the country.

"We cannot fall victim to provocations that aim to create a rift between the peoples of Azerbaijan and Iran. It's a political landmine laid by those who have no love for our countries," Ambassador Afshar Suleymani told journalists, the AFP reports.

"The United States and Israel and other countries have an interest in this," Suleymani said.
