Ruben Vardanyan appears to have spent considerable time
preparing his final statement in court, turning it into what felt like a
carefully staged solo performance. Perhaps he expected that reciting Fuzuli’s
poetry would leave a lasting impression.
It seems the moment carried particular significance for him
— so much so that the following day he reportedly recorded a voice message for
his son, reading the poem again. Clearly, it was important to him.
From the outside, it came across as an emotional and
deliberately expressive address. However sincere such gestures may be, they are
unlikely to influence the course of legal proceedings.
Even reciting “El bilir ki, s?n m?nims?n!” with deep feeling
is unlikely to change the situation at this stage.
