GUAM summit to adopt Ukraine's initiating liquidation of Jackson-Venick amendment for Azerbaijan

Jewish communities will support liquidation of the Section 907 of the Freedom Support Act against Azerbaijan adopted by the US Congress in 1993 and Jackson-Venick Amendment against the USSR and countries gained independence later on adopted in 1974.

As APA reports, Head of Eurasian Jews Congress General Council Josef Zisles, who is on a visit in Baku, stated.

The visitor also said it will be decided in the GUAM Summit in Kiev on May 22 that Ukraine initiate liquidation of the Jackson-Venick Amendment for Azerbaijan and Moldova. This amendment was liquidated for Ukraine in March this year.

The Jackson-Venick amendment bans establishing normal trade relations with countries restricting freedom of emigration (against Jews as well).
