CIS election observation mission Head Vladimir Gorkun visits Baku

Head of the election observation mission of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), first deputy CIS Executive Secretary, Vladimir Gorkun arrived in Baku last night.

APA was told by Yevgeni Sloboda, Head of the CIS Observation Missions headquarters, which started functioning officially in Baku on 24 April.

Sloboda said that Mr.Gorkun will have talks with Azerbaijani officials to familiarize with the pre-election situation in the country and also visit the constituencies in which rerun of parliamentary elections will be conducted. The mission head is also expected to visit several regions of the country.

Sloboda said the 29-member election observation mission will arrive in Baku on 11-12 May. Gorkun will meet Geert Ahrens, head of the OSCE/ODIHR Limited Election Observation Mission to exchange views on the day of voting.
