The story of the mythical $467 million — money that no one
in Armenia has seen, but everyone wants a piece of — continues.
The last leader of the Karabakh separatists, Samvelka
Shahramanyan, along with their last so-called “state minister,” whose name no
one remembers, announced plans to appeal to the prosecutor’s office and the
courts, demanding that security forces locate the $467 million “jackpot” and
determine whose money it was.
Amusingly, another group of Karabakh Armenians — the faction
led by Samvel Babayan — is making similar demands. They, too, claim that
Armenia allegedly transferred $467 million to the separatists, which was then
“distributed” among 48 families of their inner circle.
The story makes noise, but the chances that this money even
exists are close to zero. What does exist is a lot of shouting and infighting
in the dustbin of history — like homeless people fighting over a dumpster
rumored to contain tasty leftovers.
