Putin, Bush discuss Iran issue by phone

The Russian and U.S. presidents, Vladimir Putin and George W. Bush, in a telephone call on Monday, discussed interaction between their countries on international issues including the Iranian nuclear program.

Numerous meetings at various levels are planned for the next few days on the Iran issue, the Russian presidential press service said.

Putin and Bush also raised bilateral issues concerning the planned summit in St. Petersburg in July of the Group of Eight industrialized countries, the service said.

Satisfaction was expressed with work that has been done to implement agreements reached during a visit by Putin to Washington in September 2005 and during subsequent contacts, the Kremlin informs.

Both leaders said Russian-U.S. cooperation in combating terrorism had shown progress, Trend reports.
