As APA reports, the event was attended by members of observation mission on re-elections in Azerbaijan. Central Election Commission (CEC), law enforcement bodies, members of governmental and non-governmental organizations participated in the event.
The Head of PACE pre-electoral mission on rerun of the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan expressed that they thoroughly examined firsthand the preparation for elections during his visit. According to him, no fundamental improvements have been achieved on formation of democratic climate after November elections.
Platvoet said that the resolution adopted by PACE in January session included five important on returns of elections held in Azerbaijan and that these recommendations are on change of composition of election commissions, investigation of reported complaints, guarantee of transparency, ensuring of freedom of assembly and provision of Mass Media with normal conditions.
The head of mission expressed that it is possible to change the composition of election commissions till reelections. L. Platvoet stressed that in spite of all these shortcomings there are some achievements, too. According too him, finger-inking might be considered as improvement.
The head of CEC Mazahir Panahov in turn stated that Azerbaijan government is taking serious measures on solution of existing problems. According to Mazahir Panahov, specification of election lists and placement of them might be a model for international arena.
On last elections only 20,000 of 4,600,000 electorate complained about their not being included in election list. If the number of complainers had reached 100 thousand, the final result wouldn't have been more than 2%. We consider it to be an estimable case.
