Among other things, while speaking with Mirzoyan, Blinken
announced the dispatch to Armenia of a certain "special group of
specialists" who will deal with border security.
According to the US Secretary of State, the Americans will
apparently be engaged in directly strengthening the Armenian borders and
training the Armenian border guards.
What exactly Washington means by strengthening Armenia's
borders is not obvious, but it is quite predictable. However, what is obvious
is that the "special group" of Americans will definitely monitor the
activities of the Russian Federation and Iran, collect data, monitor the
activities of the Russian base in Gyumri, and so on.
"Why are we worse than the Europeans?" Blinken
might have wondered, and rightly so in principle. Armenia has turned its
borders into a literal courtyard: in addition to the Armenians themselves,
there are Russian military personnel, an EU "civilian" mission, which
includes the French, Germans, and even Canadians for some reason! Why not add a
couple of dozen Americans to this motley circus?
I would like to send special greetings to Iran in this
regard. How much has Tehran spent on Armenia? How many years have they listened
to fairy tales about eternal friendship, naively believing that Armenia would
be a counterweight partner against Azerbaijan? How many provocations have they
staged?
And why is that? So that Mirzoyan would happily smile at
Blinken, and a good half of NATO would be standing on the Armenian border? Well
done, Iranians, well done!
