Ramiz Mehtiyev: "No grounds for returning to proportional electoral system"

Mehtiyev noted in his interview with ANS TV channel, along with the majority, the proportional electoral system was used during the first years of the Azerbaijan sovereignty.

According to Mehtiyev, all facts show, that the majority way corresponds more to the presidential governance of Azerbaijan, than a proportional one, Trend reports. "May be, it will be possible to return to the proportional system some time in the future, however, it is not expected in the coming years. In some European countries they pass over from the proportional system to the majority one. Therefore, there are no grounds today to come back to the old method," the head of the presidential office underscored.
