Kyiv ready to send peacekeepers to Karabakh

02 February 2006 [17:13] - TODAY.AZ
Ukraine can send peacekeepers to Nagorno Karabakh if an appropriate decision is made by the UN and other international organizations, Secretary of the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council Anatoly Kinakh stated in Baku today.

Noting that the situation in Nagorno Karabakh should be viewed with the participation of representatives of the OSCE, EU and other international organization Kinakh said: "If it is decided to deploy peacekeeping contingents in Karabakh Ukraine possessing wide experience in peacekeeping operations is ready to provide service."

Kinakh underscored that Ukraine's position on Nagorno Karabakh is unchangeable. "Ukraine supports the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and the settlement of the conflict should first of all be peaceful and democratic," he said noting that he discussed the issue with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, FM Elmar Mammadyarov and other officials, reported Ukrainian media.
