The parties, except PFPA go on selecting their candidates to CEC

Musavat Party has not selected its representative to the Central Election Commission yet.

Informing APA about it, first deputy leader of the party Arif Hajili said that, the authorities should prolong the term of forming the CEC a little and reach a consensus with the opposition. The authorities should also agree to form the CEC on parity principle taking into consideration the recommendations of OSCE, Council of Europe:” It is necessary for the authorities and the opposition to launch talks for that. The authorities should make concessions for forming the CEC by parity principles”. According to A.Hajili, they will discuss their decision on that only in the party:”There is no need for any discussion in “Azadlig” bloc. Thus, the parties were informed about the formation of the CEC. According to the Election Code, the CEC is formed by parties not by blocs. So, Musavat Party will make this decision”.

Deputy leader of PFPA Hasan Karimov told APA that, they will participate in this process only if the CEC is formed on parity .Therefore, no discussion is held in the party concerning defining a representative at present.

Deputy executive secretary of Yeni Azerbaijan Party Mubariz Gurbanli informed APA that the candidates are selected and the process will be over soon. Answering to the question whether any change will be made to the composition of the YAP current representatives in the CEC, M.Gurbanli refused to report about it beforehand:”The list of 6 representatives will be announced soon. As the candidates have not been selected completely it is difficult to say anything beforehand”.

The representative of Ana Vatan Party to the CEC has been selected. APA was informed by the party that, Etibar Guliyev’s candidacy was nominated to the CEC membership and his documents will be submitted to Milli Majlis.

Leader of Civil Union Party Sabir Hajiyev told APA that, they have nominated deputy leader of the party Tahir Aliyev’s candidacy and the documents have already been submitted to the parliament.

The process of defining the candidates of non-party parliamentarians will start after 15 January. Parliament member Gultakin Hajiyeva told that, the deputies are on holiday from January 1 to 15 January officially. Therefore, the parliamentarians cannot come together in this period .The non-party parliamentarians will assembly and select their candidates after 15 January.

It should be noted that, Umid Party nominated Akif Gurbanov’s candidacy, Whole Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan nominated Mikael’s candidacy, Great Institution Party Ibrahim Mammadov’s candidacy, Civil Solidarity Party nominated Almaz Gahramanli’s candidacy to the membership of the CEC.
