“We will raise repatriation of Ramil Safarov before the Budapest court after the announcement of the sentence.”
Lawyer Adil Ismayilov provided Trend with this information.
“Safarov may be repatriated and serve his term in Azerbaijan after the announcement of the sentence in regard to him,” the lawyer stated.
According to Ismayilov, the issue is reflected in the international conventions. If the citizen of the member-countries commits a crime in other country, he might be extradited to his country, the 21 March 1983 European Convention says.
“Azerbaijan and Hungary are members of this Convention. We will raise the issue before the Budapest court after the announcement of the sentence. If the Hungarian authorities treat the international conventions with respect, Safarov may be extradited to Azerbaijan,” Ismayilov stressed.
