Azadliq will discuss with NGOs its plans for farther mass protest actions on Wednesday

Board chairmen of "Azadlig" bloc held a meeting yesterday where they discussed the results of the November 26 rally and assessed them to be positive.

Deputy chairman of the Democratic Party of Azerbaijan Sardar Jalalogly stated that there was no ground for the police to intervene in the rally however it did so interfering the rally 15 minutes before the term authorized by the Mayor’s Office was over.

Jalalogly also underlined that the police applied illegal means while dispersing the rally applying violence against the candidates to deputy position during the confrontation. The bloc will bring the Mayor’s Office of Baku to court for not ensuring the security of the rally.

"There were proposals to hold sit-in strike in the process of the rally. Some supported the idea while others were against. However, the force structures prevented the participants of the rally who did not want to join the sit-in strike and leave the square. The oppositionists, however, did not give way to any sabotage. We demonstrated that we support peaceful struggle," said Jalaloglu.

According to the DPA chairman deputy the opposition bloc advocates continuing mass rallies after that. "Azadlig", "Yeni Siyaset" blocs and Movement of National Union will conduct discussions with the NGOs on Wednesday to discuss the next step.
