Azerbaijan, Armenia reach agreement on demining

05 October 2005 [08:21] - TODAY.AZ
“An agreement on demining has been reached in talks on peaceable resolution of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh,” Elmar Mammadyarov.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister informed Trend about it.

According to Mammadyarov, demining is an important process and will be of primary significance after the withdrawal of the Armenian troops from the occupied areas. The demining is one of the issues, which we accorded during the talks with Armenia and the OSCE Minks Group co-chairs. FM did not exclude that the next round of talks can be held in Lubliana on 3-4 December in a meeting of the Foreign Ministers of OSCE member-countries.

“For the time being we do not plan any meeting in Lubliana, but I will be there if it is held,” Mammadyarov stressed, noting that the discussions under the Prague process would continue.

In reply to question on possible work over the draft agreement on peaceable resolution of the conflict, Mammadyarov said that it was necessary to accord the conceptual issues. “Only after it we can say whether the document will be signed or not,” he underlined.

He stressed the progress in talks, while ruled out signing of any official document. “The conflicting sides will present their positions and the co-chairs will process them. It is too immature to speak on any official document,” he resumed.
