Sabir Rustamhanli: “Getting free time on air by only two parties unfair”

23 September 2005 [09:05] - TODAY.AZ
The «Demokratik Azerbaycan» («Democratic Azerbaijan») election block is displeased that only two parties and two blocks received the free time on the air.
The co-chairman of the alliance, the chairman of the Vetendach Hemreyliyi Partiyasi (the Party of Civil Solidarity, CSP) Sabir Rustamhanli told Trend, their representative at the Central Election Committee (CEC) will raise this issue.

Rustamhanli considers the decision on granting free time on the air to blocks and parties which registered their candidates in at least 60 constituencies is unjust.

«For instance, the block having candidates in 55 constituencies could also obtain such an opportunity, but due to the lack of only 5 candidates it is deprived of such an important, significant chance. There is no also the opportunity of free campaigning for independent candidates. The principal of equality of rights among all candidates might be expected”,

Rustamhanli said. The party’s chairman thinks it is not yet late to revise the decision on the free time on the air. In his opinion, it could be implemented, if there is will to do it.
