Igbal Agazade: “We are interested in participation of the opposition in the election jointly, but the leaders of “Azadlig” did not want it”

29 July 2005 [08:25] - TODAY.AZ
As chairman of “Umid” party Igbal Agazade’s attempts to participate in the parliamentary elections together with “Azadlig” bloc did not succeed he had to take a step independently.
I.Agazade told APA that, his party has no obligation under the “Azadlig” bloc and therefore they will take into consideration only the interests of “Umid’ while taking any step.

“We have announced beforehand that, we take interest in the participation of the opposition in the election jointly. We have taken possible steps for this.

However, the leaders of “Azadlig” considered that, the joining of other parties to the bloc composed of three parties will not be successful for them. Therefore, they decided to participate in the election by three. They did not respond me concretely”. I.Agazade also told that, the party has decided to participate in the election independently and has defined its candidates. As concerns there will be any talk with the above mentioned bloc again, Agazade stated that he has no such intention.

“I took enough initiative and I am not going to return to the topic again. Probably we can think about it if they take such initiative”.

IAgazade clarified the matter whether “Umid Party will support the candidates of the bloc. He said that they are not going to do that: “I have told before that, I shall be candidate on the III Khatayi #35.However, they nominated Fuad Gahramanli’s candidacy as alternate to me purposely. This does not bother me so much”.
