President of Azerbaijan instructed to hold fair and democratic elections

"We, as the Government, will take all measures for the parliamentary elections to reflect the will of the Azerbaijani people, and I have no doubts, it will be exactly so.

We must put all our efforts for the parliamentary election to be held at the high level, all the shortcomings, known to us, be removed and Azerbaijan, thus, could continue its development with confidence and success. The work, done before the elections, is extremely important for holding parliamentary elections, as the elections is not the event, it is the process. We need to do so, that no violations of law would take place at all stages of the election process, so that for all candidates equal opportunities would be created", Aliyev stated.

The head of the State underlined, that conditions for holding meetings both in closed rooms, and on open grounds should be created. "Within the framework of the election campaign all meetings must be allowed. One must not make obstacles for that. This is the right of each individual and we must ensure all the rights. Therefore, right now, it is needed to allot certain areas to suit both candidates and their supporters and at the same not to disturb the routine life of our citizen", he added.

The President instructed the relevant bodies to make exact computerized lists of electors and to post them up on poll stations, to create all conditions for the work of public reviewers, to carry out various training programs related to the elections.

"Of course, the process of votes counting must be fully open and transparent, without any frauds. If anyone decides to take up falsifications, these people will face strict punitive measures, they will be called to account. We need to hold elections in completely transparent, fair and democratic environment", Aliyev said.
