Full list of Azeri political prisoners included in Rights Protection Organizations Monitoring Group list

The members of RPOMG stressed that all persons whose names are included in the list introduced to the international organizations cannot be set free without any considerations; some of their cases should be reviewed in full conformity with the law. They offered to conduct disussions in order to mitigate the sentences of some prisoners.

The document was signed by the members of Monitoring Group Arzu Abdullayeva, Novella Jafarova, Saida Gojamanli, Saadat Bananyarli, Chingiz Qanizadeh and Sahim Mammedov.

The members of the Monitoring Group stated that the part of the list up to here is the rest of the "the political prisoner's list" consisting of 716 men which was introduced to Council of Europe. Later on the members of the group added 22 persons' names to the list.

It must be noted that the names of  the following men Ismayilov Agil, Hasanov Ilham, Salmanov Elchin, Aliyev Arif, Aliyev Goshqar, Hasanov Farman, Huseynov Fadail, Mammadov Vuqar, Musayev Namig, Abdullayev Mahir, Dadashov Shirzad, Huseynov Akif  aren't included in "the political prisoners's list" of Leyla Yunus and Eldar Zeynalov. Although the motive of Ibrahimov Shamil's arrest wasn't shown in this list, in the alternative one he is presented as a supporter of Mahir Cavadov.

"The members of the Monitoring Group always approach  the problem of political prisoners objectively". These words informed to APA belong to the president of the National Non-Governmental Organizations Forum (NNGOF) Azay Quliyev.

The president of NNGOF said that the members of the Monitoring Group indeed protects the right. From this point of view the list can be discussed: "Though I am not familiarized with that list, I want to say that indeed some prisoners weren't juridically properly served. Some of their crimes aren't proportionate with their punishment. From this view point ,there are many prisoners whose case could be looked into again. However, that doesn't mean that the  robbers, murderers can be treated as political prisoners".

The law protector Eldar Zeynalov said that the situation 4 years before is repeated again. According to his words, at that time when they announced that there were 716 political prisoners in the country the members of the Monitoring Group protested against it and stressed that the number of political prisoners are 213: "But now it is seen that we were right. Evidently after 4 years it will be known that there were more political prisoners than 100 in Azernaijan. Who criticise us now   will agree with us at that time".

E.Zeynalov said that Council of Europe have standarts relating to political prisoners: "All the world including us act within  these principes. Just government of Azerbaijan and some law protectors don't want to accept these principles".
