Baghdad offers Baku to enlarge contingent in Iraq

The Iraqi government offered Baku to enlarge the staff of Azerbaijani peacemakers in this country. Arshad Omar Ismail, Iraq Ambassador in Azerbaijan told in the meeting with Safar Abiyev, Azerbaijani Defense Minister, Trend reports.
"We stated our position. However, Azerbaijani side has not replied yet", Ismail said.

According to the ambassador, Azerbaijani military forces serve in Iraq in the 'better and safe conditions'. "We appraise the activities of the Azerbaijani contingent in the international coalition. Iraq nation and government approach to Azerbaijani forces as brothers", he said. Azerbaijani peacemakers protect the objects in the main Iraq cities like Karbala and Tikrit. Ismail added that, Iraq government thanked Azerbaijan for the activities of the Azerbaijani contingent in this country.

The ambassador touched the incident, happened some days ago, death of Azerbaijani Murad Rahimov, US citizen during the explosion of the American helicopter on the air. The diplomat noted that, "this is the accidental fact and does not have connection to Azerbaijan". He underlined that, the Azerbaijani militaries in Iraq are not the target for the terrorists and local forces.

The period of the coalition forces in Iraq is unknown. According Ismail, the peaceful mission can postpone for a year. "The liberation of the international forces will happen after the establishment of our army and strong police", ambassador said.
