The latest member of Japanese pop group AKB48 has been unmasked as a CGI-based creation. Eguchi Aimi was recently unveiled as the latest member of girl group AKB48, but it has now been revealed that the 'singer' is a composite of six other bandmates.
A video has been released showing how the creation was made as part of the publicity stunt.
AKB48 were formed in 2005, and perform at their own theatre in the Akihabara district of Tokyo several times each day. There are, however, four 'teams' of different girls, which amount to 58 members of the band in total.
They currently hold the Guinness World Record for the pop group with the greatest number of members. They have also scored eight number one singles in Japan.
The group have released a software application that allows users to create their own pretend band member.
