People start their search for England's "Loch Ness Monster"

14 September 2010 [18:06] - TODAY.AZ
A team has used sonar equipment in their hunt for what has been dubbed England's 'Loch Ness Monster' in Lake Windermere. There have been several sightings in the country's largest lake of a creature named 'Bow-Nessie', prompting the use of technology to find it, Sky News reports.

Windermere hotel owner Thomas Noblett claimed to have experienced a strange incident in the water, explaining: "All of a sudden I felt something brush past my legs like a giant fish. And then I was lifted up by a 3ft wave. I've no idea what it was."

Hunt organiser Dean Maynard added: "We've had more creature sightings here than at Loch Ness [in Scotland] in recent years so we think it's time that Bow-Nessie received more attention."

The team allegedly spotted a 14-metre long disturbance in a a sweep of the lake, which is over ten miles long and 220ft in some parts, but nothing was detected on the sonar readings.
