British woman says she is "allergic to cash"

A British woman claims she is allergic to cash and has to pay for everything on her credit card. Yvonne Simon said the dyes in notes and metal in coins make her break out into a rash which lasts for weeks, the UK’s Daily Star newspaper reports.

The 33-year-old care assistant, from Essex in the country's east, said she suffered for months before going to a doctor who diagnosed her with the problem. Tests also showed Ms Simon was allergic to latex gloves, so the mother-of-one could not even use gloves to hold her cash.

"I ditched my purse and began using my card," Ms Simon said. Allergists said they had not heard of the allergy but advised Ms Simon to wear cotton gloves.
