South Korea accounted for a 32% share of the global handset shipments in April, according to the country's Ministry of Knowledge Economy. In the fourth quarter of 2009, South Korea claimed a 30.5% share of the global handset market.
Smartphone shipments contributed 22% to South Korea's total handset output compared with 16% in early 2009. Despite a rise in market share, shipment value for the month fell 28.2% on year to US$1.75 billion.
