It looks like 1.83ft-high Khagendra Thapa Magar from Nepal will grab the crown of world's shortest man, but according to Wikipedia, a man from Manila called Ronjay Eduvas also measures the same height.
However, we can't find any references to Mr Eduvas on the internet or our swish newspaper cuts service.
His Facebook page appears to show a very short man, but we remain sceptical. His entry on Wikipedia could, after all, be the work of pranksters.
Until this is verified our money is on Khagendra, dubbed as 'little Budhha', grabbing the title.
He measures seven inches shorter than He Pingping and currently holds the title of the world's smallest boy. He left his homeland of Nepal last year, at the age of 17, to travel to Europe to campaign for the record.
His family initially filed a claim when he was 14, but it was rejected because he was not an adult and there was a chance he might grow more.
He turns 18 this October, when it's expected that the Guinness Book of World Records will anoint him as the world's smallest man.
'He was very tiny when he was born,' said Khagendra's mother Dhana Maya Thapa Magar.
'It was not possible to bathe him or clean him up because of his size. We had to hold him on our palm.'
Meanwhile, Khagendra is revelling in his fame: 'My small size has earned me a big name.'
