Apple admits problem with 5S battery

01 November 2013 [12:43] - TODAY.AZ
Does your iPhone 5s have a really short battery life? It might be the result of a manufacturing problem.

Apple said it will be reaching out to customers who bought the iPhone 5s and are experiencing battery issues so they can have their gadgets replaced.

"We recently discovered a manufacturing issue affecting a very limited number of iPhone 5s devices that could cause the battery to take longer to charge or result in reduced battery life," Teresa Brewer, an Apple spokeswoman, is quoted as saying in a New York Times report.

"We are reaching out to customers with affected phones and will provide them with a replacement phone," the company said in the statement.

Apple did not say exactly how many of the devices are affected by the problem, but the report said the company "implied" it is likely a few thousand.

The iPhone 5s went on sale in September from $869 outright alongside the slightly cheaper iPhone 5c. Apple's new iPad Air went on sale on Friday from $598.
