'Soiled' Elvis Presley underpants put on auction

27 August 2012 [13:59] - TODAY.AZ
An unwashed pair of underpants worn by Elvis Presley 35 years ago are expected to fetch £10,000 when they go on auction next month.

The light blue briefs, soiled with stains, were worn under the King's white jumpsuit in a performance in 1977, the year he died.

The underwear, obtained from the estate of his father Vernon Presley, is due to go under the hammer in Stockport, Cheshire. Interest is expected to be high in an auction coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the singer's death.

His annotated Holy Bible, which he possessed since his first Christmas in Graceland in 1957, is expected to raise more than £25,000. Many passages are underlined, including: 'What is a man advantaged if he gain the whole world and lose himself or be cast away.'

Home movies taken by his wife Priscilla are also up for auction, including their wedding and the first time their daughter Lisa arrived in Graceland.
