UNESCO to celebrate anniversaries of prominent Azerbaijani figures

The 100th anniversary of the musical comedy "Arshin Mal Alan" by founder of the Azerbaijani National Opera Uzeyir Hajibeyov, the 900th anniversary of Mehseti Ganjavi, who lived in the 7th century, and the 500th anniversary of the philosopher and poet Seyyed Yahya Bakuvi will be celebrated by UNESCO.

The decision was taken at the 187th session of UNESCO's Executive Board, the Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Ministry told Trend on Monday. The above-mentioned event is scheduled for 2012 - 2013.
