Azerbaijan's "The Precinct" joined Cinema Mundi Film Festival in Brno

From March 2 - 9, 2011, Brno, Czechia, hosted the second edition of the Cinema Mundi Film Festival. An International Festival has brought together best 2011 Oscar-nominated foreign movies. Films from all over the world were presented over seven days.

The Precinct by Azerbaijani filmmakers also joined the Festival. The Precinct is a co-production between Azerbaijan ("Narimanfilm") and Georgia ("Georgianfilm" & "Bagira Films") which was developed within the framework of the Independent Film-makers' Association – South Caucasus (IFA-SC) training program.

The project benefited from the active consultation of the British script-writer Clare Downs and French producer Cedomir Kolar.

The film starring Zaza Bejashvili (Georgia), Melissa Pappel (France), Vagif Ibrahimoglu (Azerbaijan) and others was shot by the Azeri film director Ilgar Safat. The movie unveils the mystical story of a famous photographer, who makes a trip to his childhood. The production of the movie was funded by the Azeri ministry of culture and tourism and PASHA Bank.

The film was selected as the Azerbaijani entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 83rd Academy Awards, but didn't make the final shortlist.
