Azeri artist becomes honorary academician of Russian Imperial Academy of Arts

Azerbaijan's Honoured Artist Sakit Mammadov was awarded a title of honorary academician of the Russian Imperial Academy of Arts.

President of Academy Zurab Tsereteli presented a diploma and medal "Honorary Academician" in a closing ceremony of the 5th Moscow International Festival of Arts "Traditions and Contemporaneity" held on Mart 5-10.

The aim of the festival is to establish creative contacts between participants and increase their professional level in the course of dialogue and an exchange of experience.

Sakit Mammadov has been awarded in two nominations, "For preservation of traditions in modern painting” and “For originality of drawing and individuality of style".

His works are the most expensive art works in Azerbaijan. They are sold at famous auctions of the world and exhibited at high-profile museums.
