Top world stars may perform in Baku at MTV channel festival

MTV, the biggest music channel in the world  has got a serious interest in Azerbaijan. Once the TV channel secures consent of the country leadership, Azerbaijani people will be able to watch the latest music videos of the world celebrities. And it all is set to start on September.

MTV Regional Director for Eurasia Matthew Goldstein said in Baku that talks are being held with the Azerbaijani government to open the channel and organize grand musical festival here in September. The festival will be aired lively in 168 countries around the world. The whole world will learn about Azerbaijan’s potential in just one day.

"We very much hope that the Government of Azerbaijan and the Heydar Aliyev Foundation will give us full moral support. I have already met with Azerbaijani Culture and Tourism Minister Abulfas Garayev, who backed opening the channel and holding the festival,” MTV Regional Director said.

“Azerbaijan is a wonderful country with enormous tourist potential and with very hospitable people. I just fell in love with your country. Therefore, we choose exactly Azerbaijan,” Goldstein said.

As for the festival, it will feature Beyonce, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Lady GaGa, Roxette and many other stars. The list is still growing.

“A video about Azerbaijan’s tourist potential will be shown during the festival. Entrance to the concert will be only 5 manat. Most of the proceeds from the sale of tickets will be transferred to the Heydar Aliyev Foundation for charity purposes,” Goldstein added.
