Int'l conference "Resources and Culture. From Archeology to New Technologies" kicks off

Resources and Culture. From Archaeology to New Technology International Scientific and Practical Conference has kicked off in Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, Azernews reports.

At the opening ceremony, director of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum Amina Malikova told guests about the history and activities of the museum.

Director of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art Yelena Titova underlined the significance of the three-day conference where interesting reports will be heard. Furthermore, the museum directors exchanged memorable gifts.

The conference continued with an academic session on the topic Inter-Museum cooperation in the CIS. The mobile exhibition "Heritage of the CIS. Traditions for the Future is also presented at the event, which features museum directors and experts from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

The academic sessions will include the following reports: Museum and People; Museum and Information Resources; Nature and Traditions as Inspiration Source; The Most Ancient Foundations of the Eurasian Cultures: Archetypes, Symbolism, Archaeology Artefacts; Decorative Art of the CIS Peoples; Role of Modern Museums in Preservation of Traditions.

The conference held within the framework of the multi-year comprehensive program "Heritage of the CIS. Traditions for the Future" is jointly organised by the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art and the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum and supported by the Azerbaijan Culture Ministry and the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Foundation

Note that Resources and Culture. From Archaeology to New Technology International Scientific and Practical Conference will be on until December 5.

Founded in 1967, the National Carpet Museum holds more than 14,000 exhibits of the finest Azerbaijani carpets.

Initiated by eminent carpet artist Latif Karimov, the museum is beautiful inside and out.

The museum's new building is designed in the form of a rolled carpet. Now, the museum hosts multiple events, including international symposiums, conferences, and various exhibitions.

In 2019, the museum received national status for its significant contribution to promoting Azerbaijani carpet weaving art.

In 2020, the Carpet Museum enriched its collection with a beautiful pile of carpets purchased by the Culture Ministry at the Sartirana Textile Show in Italy.

The 19th-century Guba carpet "Ugakh" was donated to the Carpet Museum, while the Garabagh carpet "Chelebi" enriched the collection of the museum's Shusha branch.

For four years, the Carpet Museum won the Travellers' Choice Awards. The award proves once again that the professional activity of the National Carpet Museum is highly appreciated by visitors from all over the world.
