28 October 2024 [17:59] - TODAY.AZ

Yusif Aghayev's book "Military art of the XI-XIII centuries in the works of the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi" has been presented at the National History Museum, Azernews reports.

This publication illuminates important and little-studied military issues for the history of Azerbaijan. It is known that Nizami Ganjavi's works are invaluable sources of information about the history, geography, ethnography, science and culture of medieval Azerbaijan. The presented book proves that it provides accurate and comprehensive information about the poems of the brilliant poet, as well as about the military history of the 11th-13th centuries.

Thus, the poems contain interesting information about types of weapons, battle formations, military strategy and tactics, military law and military training. Yusif Aghayev, who used a large number of illustrative materials, compared the information in the poet's work with other sources of that time and drew corresponding parallels.

Associate Professor Sabuhi Ahmadov, who addressed the event, stated that Yusif Aghayev is known as the author of a number of scientific and popular science books and articles.

"The study of military affairs in such epics as "Book of Dede Korkut" and "Koroglu" attracted the attention of not only the scientific community, but also a wide readership. Research in works dedicated to the glorious pages of our military history is of particular importance, and from this point of view, Yusif Agayev's new book is of great interest," he said.

MP Tahir Rzayev noted that Nizami Ganjavi's works are a real encyclopedia in terms of studying various areas of medieval Azerbaijan.

The author of the book, Yusif Aghayev, spoke about the features of the book and expressed deep gratitude to those who supported him in preparing the book.

The event also provided information about the TV series "Azerbaijani Atabegs", a project of the Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting CJSC.

Az TV, the Turkish company Ikinci Yeni Film Production and the Azerbaijani Shahdag Film Production worked together on the series about the military and political events of the Nizami Ganjavi era. The military uniform used in the film, as well as footage from the series, were presented.

The director of Shahdag Film Production, Ilgar Mehdi, emphasized that the creation of feature films and documentaries on a scientific basis is the most powerful means of propaganda.

In the artistic part of the event, the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Army Ideological and Cultural Center named after Hazi Aslanov performed the dances "Dance with Swords" and "Jangi". Also, Elchin Mammadov and Metleb Agayev performed Uzeyir Hajibayli's romances "Sevgili Janan" and "Sensiz", written to the words of Nizami Ganjavi.

At the end of the event, the guests were presented with books autographed by the author.

The National Museum of History is one of the architectural pearls of the country, dating back to the 19th century.

The largest museum in the country was originally the private residence of Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev, who was the famous national oil baron remembered for his generous philanthropy.

Over 300,000 items are assembled in 10 collections in the museum, including a valuable library consisting mainly of unique books.

There are several departments in the museum: Modern History, Ethnography department, Department of Ancient and Medieval History, Scientific Excursion Department, Laboratory for Museum Restoration, Fund of Numismatics, etc.

The museum's collections provide insight into the history of Azerbaijan from the past to the present.

The house museum of Azerbaijan's philanthropist, oil baron Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev, was re-opened in 2020 after restoration and reconstruction work.

The museum's opening was in line with the 100th anniversary of the National History Museum of Azerbaijan.

In addition, the museum displayed new exhibits, stored in its fund, including paintings, documents, photographs, orders and books.
