The Modern Art Museum will hold an exhibition of the works of Azerbaijani painter Niyaz Najafov, entitled "NO" on October 1.
Niyaz Najafov was born in Baku in 1968. After graduating from Baku Physical Education College in 1985, he was engaged in professional sports, which became his life’s passion. Niyaz was also fond of drawing since childhood, but only since 2003 began to paint professionally, and develop a successful career in the arts. Niyaz’s pieces are exhibited in leading galleries in Baku.
In 2009, he represented Azerbaijan at the Venice Biennale, where two of his works were purchased by famous collector Albert Sandretti.
Over the last decade, Niyaz reached the height of his career in the painting art.
His works are exhibited abroad, in Russia, the U.S., Germany, Denmark, and in foreign museums. His art magnetically attracts the spectator’s eye and hypnotizes the person to evoke a range of emotions.
One of the identifying features of Niyaz’s style is an invisible bond between serious painting and drawing, a combination of epic art and easy caricature.
Sometimes it is blatant satire, and sometimes it is merely a hidden smile. The people inhabiting his paintings are not so much actual characters, but archetypes, in which someone, perhaps, might recognize themselves.
The artist is constantly searching for a new stylistic solution, working through sleepless nights, and this tension is felt in all his paintings.
