The Georgian Artists School has a very rich tradition. Georgian art has evolved for millennia. With roots in rich archaic and ethnic tradition, Georgian art has grown along with the development of the Georgian statehood, starting from the ancient kingdoms. The location of Georgia on the crossroads of Asia and Europe has brought travelers, merchants, missionaries and conquerors of all kinds and creeds, and defined the country's cultural and artistic environment throughout its history.
Georgian art tradition has thus been impressed by Mesopotamian, Anatolian, Greek, Persian, and Roman art throughout antiquity. It has further grown within the framework of Christian ecclesiastical and middle-eastern art of the Middle Ages.
The famous artist of last century Niko Pirosmani brought new colors to the Georgian painting art. Georgian artist, David Kakabadze, Elene Akhvlediani and Lado Gudiashvili, who lived in 1980s in Paris established relations between representatives of this school and Western Europe.
Practice of unlike concepts by a group of Georgian artist, living in 1950s played a great role in creation and formation of visual styles in the country.
