Baku to host Open Cup on Social, Modern Forms of Dance

The Azerbaijan Open Cup on Social and Modern Forms of Dance will be held in Baku on November 29.

To be co-organized by the Azerbaijani Association of modern and social dance (AAMSD) and the Azerbaijani Youth Union, the event will be held at the Theatre named after Rashid Behbutov.

“We will get happy if new groups join us,” said the President of AAMSD, Aziz Azizov. “We have especially established a new nomination, "Debut" as young teams, usually are scary to go for the first time on stage and compete with teams that have already participated in such competitions many times.”

Azizov said that “Debut” has been established to promote the young dancers have an equal chance and gain more self-confidence in the competition.

Azerbaijan Cup will be held in the following categories: "Baby show", "Ethnic Folklore", "Stylized Folklore," "Dance Show" and "Street Dance".

Competitions in all categories, except "Baby Show", will be held in three age categories: children, juniors and adults. All categories are divided into solos, duets, small groups and ensembles.

So far many groups have already applied to participate in the event. Application is continuing for those who are interested in it.
